Franklin, Autobiography
Ben Franklin, as you will learn when you read his autobiography, wasn't a saint. The first time I read his autobiography, I was taken with the notion of a founding father as a human being - his eccentricities, including a particularly prescriptive and draconian personal philosophy, become evident, his boasting, outlandish, and his storytelling, amusing. Rereading last night, I had some of the same impressions.
