This week you are reading two more stories. While I am not able to say that this is particularly uplifting, there are some interesting ideas here.
Desai has been shortlisted for the Booker prize several times, which is quite an accomplishment. Her daughter, Kiran Desai, won the Booker prize in 2006 for The Inheritance of Loss - the whole family seems to be swimming in literary talent! For more about Desai, see the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anita_Desai
There are some brief notes on Rushdie's "The Courter" at http://www.laits.utexas.edu/doherty/a/rushdie.html
You've reached the end!
Please take a moment to evaluate the course. See my note on the homepage for details.
Thanks, all, and I hope you found something beautiful, new, or interesting in this semester's reading. Please contact me with questions or concerns - I'll be around until 13 May 08 and back in August if we don't connect before then. Have a good summer!
